Bone Mineral Density Changes in Growing and Training Thoroughbreds
نویسنده
چکیده
Bone mineral density contributes to bone strength, and can be measured accurately in the distal limb of growing or training young horses. In training horses, changes occur within less than 3 months, and consist of trabecular thickening in the subchondral area and specific areas of the body of the epiphysis of longbones and the cuboidal bones. In the growing horse, variation in mineral density between foals becomes much less in the first months of life. The current most practical method for accurate non-invasive quantification of bone changes in the distal limb is peripheral quantitative computed tomography, using a portable axial CT scanner. The Effect of Body Pump Training on Bone Mineral Density and Balance in Postmenopausal Women
Abstract Introduction and aim: Studies has shown that increases bone mineral density (BMD) loss after menopause in women; On the other hand, physical activity is an important factor in preventing osteoporosis and fractures associated with it. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of 6 months low-load very high-repetition resistance training (body pump) on BMD and balance in postme...

Loss of bone density is one of the most common side effects in kidney transplant patients. Regarding the role of physical activity and exercise in preventing bone loss bone density, The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of 12 weeks of resistance training on the bone density in renal transplant patients. Methods A quasi-experimental study was designed for this research. A total...
متن کاملThe Effect of 12 Weeks of Training in Water, on Land and Combined Environment on Bone Mineral Density in Premenopausal Women
Purpose: Given that physical activity is the most important environmental moderating factor, it has been known as an effective, available, low-cost and non-pharmacological approach to increase or maintain bone density at different ages. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks of training in water, on land and combined environment on bone mineral density in premenopau...

Abstract Background: The aim of this study was to examine the effect of isometric training on prevention of bone density reduction of limbs during an immobilization period. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 60 men with fractures of the femoral bone, needing at least one month immobilization period, were selected and randomly assigned in control and experimental groups, the latter u...
متن کاملThe effect of two types exercise therapy on bone mineral density and mechanical strength of osteoporotic male rats
Introduction: Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease with a consequent increase in bone fracture. The purpose of this study was to determine skeletal changes induced by two types of exercise therapy in osteoporotic rats. Materials and methods: Among 30 male rats, 6 of them were selected as healthy group, Then Osteoporosis induced in other rats by intraperitoneal injection of 20% ethan...
